The problem
One of our customers wanted to mix powders of Tungsten carbide, Cobalt and synthetic diamonds for making the best quality drilling bits. This required a very high level of homogenous mixing. We were ready to take up this challenge and we offered our Alphie-3 model as the diamond coring bit powder mixer.
Conventional Mixer vs. Alphie 3D Mixer
Alphie 3D – Three Dimensional Powder Mixer – runs with single-phase power and works on a 0.25 kw standard motor. Alphie 3D Mixer is a table top machine and is ideal for a small amounts of mixing application. This mixer model is also being used for R&D purpose for small size batches of powder. In a conventional powder mixer or blender, the centrifugal force of the motion of rotation tends to favor segregation rather than mixing. The turbulence created (by baffles, inclined surfaces, etc.) is an afterthought and not intrinsic to the design of the blender, unlike Alplie.
