Alphie Mixer Benefits

Major Benefits

  • Highest homogeneity
  • Ideal for dry and free flowing powder applications
  • Can mix powder with various density difference
  • Can mix powder with different particle size, shape and color
  • Can mix powder with odd proportions

Other benefits

Short mixing time

Reduce working and handling time and increases the throughput of the unit. The classical Tumbling Motion ensures every particle of powder/droplet of liquid changes its position and mixes in the mass. As you can find in this video, the Powder filled in Container changes its position at every angle of motion. The rotary and shaking motion gives required homogeneity in shorter duration.

Alphie Mixers come with a plethora of benefits from mixture homogeneity to mixing compounds of different density, short mixing time and so on.

No segregation of the different compounds

Many a time it is observed that the particles with different densities or sizes make clusters during mixing. They get segregated and remain on the outer periphery of the mixer or at the centre of the mixing mass.

However, in the Alphie Mixer, the optimal mixing result is reached and maintained over the complete mixing period. So there is no need to experimentally define and meet the optimal mixing time. You are less dependent on the mixer parameters for the subsequent processing of your products.

Gentle mixing

Certain compounds are sensitive to heat or react with the contact of local temperature peaks. Other compounds are changed or damaged by shear force.

Alphie Mixer has an inversion motion rather than rotary motion. Since there is no rotating blade or agitator inside, there is no shear force being applied on the material. In other mixers, the rotary motion imparts a centrifugal force which in turn produces high attacking force and friction among the particles. On the other hand, there are no such forces in the inversion action of Alphie.

Freedom from layering filling

It has been observed that powders are added in layers in conventional mixers. That is, some proportion of powder A is added first. Then, some proportion of powder B is added. This process is repeated 3 to 4 times. This is called layering filling.

Using Alphie 3D Mixer gives freedom from such a process. All powders can be filled without making any layer and still the best mixing results can be achieved.

No agitator shaft and so no local heating

In mixers with mechanical stirring devices, the mixer blades are rotated on horizontal, vertical or inclined shafts. The high rotating speed and the forced motion generates shear forces harming the compounds. Depending on the mixer construction, local temperature peaks are generated which heat up the mixer content. Certainly, this can be advantageous for sticky material; but it’s the biggest enemy for free-flowing powder.

Single Shaft Mixer or also called as Single Axis Conventional Mixers are in existence since hundreds of years. The development of Alphie 3D Tumbler Mixer is a breakthrough in mixing technology by offering 3D movement of mixing material.

Alphie Three Dimensional (3D) blender comes in a variety of models in laboratory mixing capacity as well as large production capacity range as big as 1500 Ltr and above. The mixing movement and technology is same for all sizes: Kinematic Inversion. These blenders are ideal when the product mixes require gentle handling. 3D mixers are easy to control, offering HMI control panel to allow adjustable features when they’re fully loaded and their rpm rate can also be adjusted. And there are plenty more of such reasons to change your powder mixing equipment from conventional 2D mixers to 3D mixers.

Comparison with ribbon blender

Alphie mixer advantages

Alphie Mixer
  • Powder filled drum goes to the mixer protecting against cross contamination, reduced waiting time for feeding and discharge
  • Inversion movement of mixer ensures that there are no dead zones left while mixing.
  • Minimal shear force due to inversion movement and so no particle breakage / size reduction
  • 3 to 4 times faster to give required homogeneity
  • Mixing without any blade or agitation. Its gentle mixing

Ribbon mixer disadvantages

ribbon blender

  • Powder is directly filled inside the mixer and collected from bottom. Mixer has to be cleaned for product change.
  • Stationary mixer drum has more than 4 dead zones. Smaller particles may accumulate there.
  • Considerable shear force is generated due to rotational movement and more chances of particle size reduction.
  • It takes much longer time and so more power consumption.
  • Stationary mixer drum with rotating blade creates big amount of agitation / friction force. This further leads to high motor power consumption.

V or double cone mixer disadvantages

V blender

  • Powder is directly filled inside the mixer and collected from bottom. Mixer has to be cleaned for product change.
  • Mixer has single axis rotational movement. Which generates centrifugal force.
  • Considerable shear force is generated due to rotational movement and more chances of particle size reduction.
  • It takes much longer time and so more power consumption.
  • Ultra fine and ultra light weight powder remains floating in the mixer without getting properly mixed.
